Generating Google Ads Recommendations

Flint's Google Ads Agent reads your connected account and turns it into a prioritized list of recommendations you can act on.

Overview

Flint's Google Ads Agent reads your connected account and turns it into a prioritized list of recommendations you can act on. Instead of deciding what to build from a blank page, you start from what the account tells you is worth doing.

What a recommendation can be

Every recommendation is one of three kinds of change:

  • A Google Ads change - add negative keywords, pause underperforming keywords, adjust match types, reroute an ad group's final URL, or flag a conversion-tracking problem.
  • A landing-page change - build a new on-brand page or update an existing one so the page matches the ad and the searcher's intent.
  • Both together - for example, a new keyword cluster with a dedicated page and the ad-group routing to send traffic to it.

Recommendations arrive in your inbox grouped by impact (high impact, quick wins, and additional opportunities) and by type (ad, ad group, keyword, campaign, landing page, or account-wide), so you can start where it matters most.

Run your first set of recommendations

  1. 1.In the left sidebar, open Google Ads.
  2. 2.Once your account is connected, click the Recommendations button in the top right. On a new account you'll also see a Recommendations button in the center "Your Google Ads account is connected" panel.
  3. 3.In the Generate Recommendations dialog, optionally add research guidance to steer the run - tell Flint what to prioritize or avoid. For example: "Focus on high-spend non-brand campaigns and ignore competitor expansion."
  4. 4.Click Generate.

A research run usually takes about 10 minutes. While it runs, the button is replaced by a Researching indicator. You can leave the page - results are delivered by email (and Slack, if connected).

Writing good research guidance

Guidance is optional, but it's the fastest way to make a run more useful. It works best when you name specific campaigns, themes, or constraints - for example, "prioritize our enterprise campaigns," "don't touch brand terms," or "look for wasted spend before expansion." If you leave it blank, Flint decides what's most worth surfacing on its own.

Running again later

Click Recommendations any time to open Generate New Recommendations. A fresh run adds a new set to your inbox; your existing recommendations stay where they are. The header shows Last ran ... so you always know how current your inbox is.

Recommendations can also generate automatically on a schedule - see Auto Run: Scheduled Recommendations.
