Rowley Funeral Will Be SundayDeceased Has Lived Near Mitchell Since 1894 -- Is Survived by Five ChildrenFuneral services for Warren B. Rowley, who died Wednesday, will be held Sunday afternoon at the First Baptist church at 2:30 o'clock. From one thirty until the services are held an opportunity will be given to the friends to view the remains at the church. A.B. Rowley, a brother and Mrs. Clara Bayley, a daughter, will arrive Saturday from Texas to attend the funeral. Rev. Robert Lincoln Kelley and Rev. John S. Schroder of Pierre, will have charge of the services. Warren B. Rowley was born March 31, 1845 at Caton, N. Y., being one of eight children of Mr. and Mrs. Philo J. Rowley. Two brothers, Albert B. and Frank L. Rowley, both of Mitchell, now survive him. At the age of nineteen he was united by baptism with the Baptist church of his native place. With his parents he moved to Illinois in 1869, where in Chicago, Jan. 6, 1871, he married Miss Mary A. Farrell. To this union four children wee born, Clara A., Addie E., William E., and Frank J. Only the first of these outlives him. Mrs. Rowley died in March of 1880 at Goodland, Indiana, where they had moved in 1872. On July 2, 1888 he married Miss Nettie Bruce and to them were born four children Earl B., Harry H., Merle and Leo B. But a few months ago, Feb. 5, 1917, Mrs. Rowley passed away. Of the eight children of both marriages the following survive the father, Mrs. Clara Bayley, of Plainsview, Texas, Earl B., Mrs. Merle Eastman and Leo B. of Mitchell and Harry H. of Reliance, S.D. Mr. Rowley moved with his family from Indiana to South Dakota in 1894 settling eleven miles northeast of Mitchell. In 1904, he made his home in Mitchell. His health has been uncertain for two years due to hardening of the arteries causing apoplexy. The last attack came Wednesday at 1 o'clock in the afternoon. Death followed two hours later. For 23 years he has been a valued member of the First Baptist church. He was actively affiliated with the Mitchell Lodge of Odd Fellows. The local lodge will have charge of the services at the grave. Interment will be at Graceland cemetery. The pall-bearers will be G. W. Law, E.D. Watkins, J. W. Broadbent, Frank Hewitt, S. Catrell and H. B. Anderson. |
