DEATHSMADORA THOMAS ROWLEYMadora Thomas Rowley was born January 5, 1871, at Big Rapids, Mich., the daughter of George and Caroline Thomas, and died at a Mitchell hospital December 7, 1940, following an illness of five days. In September, 1882, at the age of 11 years, she came to Mitchell wither her parents and grew to womanhood here. On October 3, 1894, she was united in marriage to Samuel W. Rowley in Perry township, Davison county. Mrs. Rowley was a member of the Baptist Ladies, the Berean Bible and the Missionary Society of the White Temple Baptist church. She was also an active member of the Western Star Rebekah lodge No. 23 and the L. A. P. M. Canton Success No. 3. She is survived by her widower, two children, Mrs. Hazel H. Cox, and Claude A. Rowley; six grandchildren and a brother, Alfred W. Thomas, all of Mitchell. Funeral services were held December 10, at the White Temple Baptist church with the Rev. E. L. Jackson officiating and burial was made in Graceland cemetery under the direction of the Broadbent funeral home. Music at the services was furnished by Mrs. Paul Smock, accompanied by Mrs. L. H. Raber. Pall bearers were W. H. Snow, A. H. Gardner, C. R. Wallis, C. L. Holden, J. W. Broadbent and C. W. Gillis. The services at the grave were in charge of the Rebekah lodge. |
