OBITUARY

Franklin Donald Rowley, Sr.

Franklin Donald Rowley, Sr. 53, died suddenly Christmas morning, December 25, 2002.

He was born in Battle Creek. Rowley began serving for the U. S. Army in 1968 and after serving twenty years, he retired in 1988 as Sergeant First Class, E 7. Rowley was proud to be a Veteran of the U. S. Army and enjoyed the experiences that came with it, His service didn't stop after retirement, as he joined the Postal Service in Lansing. He took pride in his work and even more in his family.

Rowley was unmistakably the Patriarch of not only his surviving children and wife, but to his brothers and sisters as well. He did everything in his emotional, physical and financial power to see that everyone was happy and well taken care of. Aside from his enormous need to help others, Rowley was creative and musical.

Rowley was incredibly talented in music, poetry, writing, singing and song writing. During the time he served in Germany, he was infamous for entertaining those men and women in the army that he "adopted" with his unique songs and guitar playing. Rowley was also a published poet.

Franklin Donald Rowley was an inspiration to everyone who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Elaine Rowley, his three children, Karen Sue Rowley who married Bill Parks, along with their three children, Jennifer Nicole, Kayla Anne and Sara Marie Parks, Annette Marie Rowley and her son, Annousack Jobe Phraxayavong "Jobie" and Franklin Donald Rowley, Jr. He is also survived by his step-father, Barney Davenport, brothers and sisters, Sharon Wetherill, Zelma Roush, Richard Rowley, Steve Rowley, Mike Rowley, Nancy Perfitt, numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Grace Davenport, father, William Rowley, sisters, Grace Higdon and Roberta Moore.

Cremation has taken place.

A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 30, 2002, at the Robertson Funeral Homes, Leslie Chapel.

Rowley lived in Leslie, Michigan, a place he was proud to call home. In lieu of flowers, the Rowley family requests that donations be made to the charity of your choice or charities dealing with children, such as, Ronald McDonald House and the like, in his name, Franklin Donald Rowley, Sr.
