Former Mitchell Resident Dies in Plainview, Texas

Mrs. J. G. Hooker has returned here from Plainview Tex., where she was called June 20 by the death of her mother, Mrs. Dan C. Bayley, a former Mitchell resident.

Mrs. Bayley, 63, died after a short illness following an operation. She resided in Mitchell from 1891 to 1917. Funeral services were held and interment made in Plainview.

Surviving Mrs. Bayley are her widower, four sons, C. L. and Spencer Bayley of Plainview, Donald of Portland, Ore., and Warren of Del Rio, Tex., three daughters, Mrs. Ben Ray of Hale Center, Tex., Mrs. Ray Duncan of Plainview and Mrs. Hooker of Mitchell, three half brothers, Earl Rowley of Long Beach, Calif., and Henry and Leo Rowley of Mitchell, a half sister, Mrs. Lee Eastman of Mitchell, and 10 grandchildren.

Dan C. Bailey, Former Resident Here, Buried

Word has been received here of the death of Dan C. Bailey, 76 of near Petersburg, Texas on July 1. He was a former Mitchell resident. Funeral services were held at Plainview, Texas, and burial made there.

Mr. Bailey was born November 7, 1864 in Floyd county, Ia., and moved with his parents to a homestead near Mitchell in 1883. He moved to Hale county, Texas in 1917. In 1892 he married Miss Clara A. Rowley, who preceded him in death six years ago.

Mr. Bailey is survived by seven children, Chester L. Bailey of Plainview, Donald E. and Warren E. Bailey of Portland, Oregon; Mrs. Winifred Hooker of Fulton, S. D.; Mrs. Ben Ray, Happy Union, Texas; Mrs. Genevieve Duncan of Amarillo, Texas and Spencer A. Bailey of Petersburg. All of the children were present at the time of his death.
