Paul E. Capes, 73, of Indianapolis, died January 7, 2004. Mr. Capes had been a Medical Technician and Instructor for United States Air Force; a youth counselor and pastor for the Methodist Churches. He also had been a case manager for American Red Cross. He retired from Hartford Insurance Company after 23 years as inspector and instructor for loss control. Mr. Capes served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, served on the board of representatives, which represents Trinity Episcopal Church for Mid-North Shepard Center; member of Optimist Club of North Indianapolis, Hoosier Great Dane Club and Muncie Kennel Club. Mr. Capes attended Indiana University, Erlham College and Butler University.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, January 10, at Trinity Episcopal Church. There will be a Celebration of his life gathering after the memorial service at the church.

Mr. Capes was preceded in death by his wife, Ann L. Capes. He is survived by his son, Mark A. Capes; daughters, Susan A. Thomas and Anne Marie Capes; sister Doris Douglas; two granddaughters, Christina and Lisa Thomas; nieces Nancy Hampton and Pricilla Rowley and Saul.
