| Reuben 1-7.2305/08.01 | pg 231 D. R. Blanding came in 1874. Newt Anderson came from Mahaska county, Iowa, in the spring of 1877 and took a homestead in Aldine. He was a blacksmith by trade. In 1882 he opened up a shop in Norton which he run (sic) until 1889 when he sold out and moved to Arkansas where he died in 1893. His family resides in Arkansas at this time. Nat King came to Aldine from Pacific Junction, Iowa, in the spring of 1877. He remained here until 1882 when he moved back to Iowa. Mr. R. Allen and his son Merritt, came to Aldine in 1876. Mr. Allen died in 1878. His widow lives in Furnas county, Nebraska, at this time. Merritt, or Doc Allen, as he is familliarly (sic) known, married a daughter of Reuben Rowley and still lives in Aldine township. |

born in Crawford county. Pennsylvania, October 19, 1836. In 1840 his
parents moved to Wisconsin and settled at Milwaukee. In
1894 they moved to Iowa and settled in Fayette county.
He was married there in 1859 to Elizabeth Jane Cline. Eleven children have
been born to them, eight of whom are still living. |

Norton lodge No 157, I. O. O. F., was organized April
12, 1879. The charter members were: Reuben Rowley, David Reagan, John
Wallace, Julian DeJean, A. G. Chambers, W. E Case and A. F. Harmer. The
first officers were David Reagan, N. G.; A. G. Chambers, V. G., W. E Case,
secretary; Reuben Rowley, treasurer. |
