SAMUEL N. ROWLEY DIESAfter a brief illness of eight days duration of pneumonia, Samuel N. Rowley departed this life at his home in this village, Saturday morning, March 4 at eleven o’clock. Samuel Noah Rowley was born in Ashtabula County, Ohio, Jan. 12, 1832. In 1837 he removed with his parents to Chautauqua County, New York, where he resided until 1843 when he removed to Hanna, Indiana and resided there until 1884, with the exception of about three years spent in Monroe and Howard Counties, Iowa. In June 1881 he removed with his family to Polk County, Nebraska and settled on a homestead, where he resided until the spring of 1912, when he removed to Silver Creek and has resided here since. May 10th, 1859, he was united in marriage to Miss Hanna Lavona Sayles. To this union nine children were born, three of whom are living. They are: Mrs Mary E. Sprague, Herbert S. and Marion S. Rowley, who with the aged mother are left to mourn the loss of a devoted husband and father, the other six children having preceded their father to the great beyond. He also leaves to mourn his loss an aged brother and sister, Sidney P. Rowley, of Portland, Oregon and Mrs. Sarah F. Jones of Dunlap, Iowa. In September, 1894 he united with the Christian Church and has remained a constant Christian ever since. The funeral services were held at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Sprague Monday afternoon, Rev. W. H. LeBar, pastor of the Congregational Church conducting the services. Many floral offerings were given by the societies of Silver Creek and the relatives and friends of the deceased.
