MRS. ROWLEY DIES

Mrs. Eugenia Knight Rowley, 86, member of a distinguished Madison family, an early resident of the Wingra Park area and active in many social, church and literary activities here, died Wednesday at her home at 904 Oakland ave., following a brief illness.

A native of Wilmington, Del., Mrs. Rowley had been a Madison resident for 68 years. She was the daughter of Col. and Mrs. John H. Knight.

In 1885, Mrs. Rowley was married to the late Leslie B. Rowley, Madison realtor who was a pioneer in the development of Wingra Park.

Mrs. Rowley was a member of the First Baptist church, the Wingra Park Aid society, the Woman's club, the Dickens Fellowship and the DAR.

SHE IS SURVIVED by three sons, Laurence M., and Gordon C., both of Madison, and Silas H., Milwaukee; two sisters, Mrs. Knight Cochran, Madison, and Mrs. Emlen Knight Davies, Washington; along with 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Private fueral rites will be held Friday at the Frautschi funeral home. The Rev. Dr. Charles R. Bell, Jr., pastor of the First Baptist church will officiate. Burial will be at Forest Hill cemetery.

The family has requested that flowers be omitted.
