Dorothy Virginia (Dot) Rowley, 65, wife of Bill Rowley and a resident of Parksley, died at her residence on Sunday, May 15, 2005.

Born in Chesconnessex, Mrs. Rowley was the daughter of the late Warner Ames Johnson and Janie Beatrice Thomas Johnson. She was a self-employed seamstress and sales clerk at Hubbard's Home Center in Parksley, worked many years at the Parksley Apparel Co. before its closing, and was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Hopkins.

Funeral services were held at Thornton Funeral Home, Parksley, on Tuesday, May 17 at 1 p.m. conducted by the Rev. William Jefferson. Interment was in the Parksley Cemetery.

Other than her husband, Mrs. Rowley is survived by a son, Randy Hopkins; four sisters, Peggy Anne Wessells of Rue, Janie Marie Fitchett of Pastoria, Linda Jean Jackson of Parksley, and Anita Lynn Smith of Onley; a brother, Barry Thomas Johnson of Chesconnessex; and two grandchildren, Betty Joan Hopkins and Barry Thomas Hopkins. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Ruth Adkins and Betty Darlene Saunders.

Arrangements were made by Thornton Funeral Home, Parksley.
